Local Thrift Stores

Secondhand shopping is a great way to safe money. Even though I still haven't had a chance to go by these thrift stores to check it all out, I wanted to post this advice from Sofia L. I'm just going to copy what she said because she says it so well!

"Savers on Mondays has reinstated their 99 cent Mondays with additional half price tags. So certain color tags will be 99 cents no matter what the price marked and then another color will be half priced.

At the Goodwill bargain bin all children's books are a quarter. Plus I love getting children's swimsuits there (I know that sounds nasty and ghetto but that's why God made color safe bleach) because the way clothing is priced by the pound the swimsuits end up being 20 cents. It's hood there, just to forewarn. Even if you don't have asthma, you might have an asthma attack because of smells."

Too funny. I'll wear my meat-handling mask to help with the smell when I go. Thanks for the tips, Sofia! Any other money saving tips out there?

I'm Officially NUTS

Here's a look at my trip to Smith's today:
Yes, the can of nuts on the top right is missing the lid. The snacking had already begun! Here's the breakdown:

12 cans of Emerald dry roasted peanuts- $0.50 each
2 Sara Lee pies- $0.88 each
5 apples (because we needed them...)- $0.99/lb.
TOTAL: $9.51

I went a little nuts on the nuts. But really, $0.50 for a pound of nuts? That's a GREAT price. (Just to give you an idea, the 12 oz. cans of Planter's were on sale this week for $2.50.)

So what's a girl to do with so many peanuts? Other than eat them out of the can and make trail mix...I'm drawing a blank. Got any good peanut ideas or recipes? Help me out!

The $5.00/4 Target manufacturer coupons DID NOT work for this. My advice is to save yourself the pain and agony and just use them at Target even though they are manufacturer coupons.

ALSO Safeway stores are offering a FREE product coupon every day through December 24th. (Check your ad for the coupons.) These coupons are valid with a $20 purchase.

If you are buying $20.00 worth of cereal BEFORE coupons I would buy the free product as well, give the cashier the free product coupon first and then the cereal coupons. I've never had a problem with this working (except for today). There is no mention of the $20.00 purchase being AFTER manufacturer coupons.
