June - Group Order UPDATE

Along with the freeze dried strawberries we're ordering this month, we are also putting together a group order for 5-gallon food storage buckets. These buckets are great for storing things you can buy in bulk for your food storage.

Take wheat for example. Here are the prices of hard white wheat at three well-known food storage suppliers:

Walton Feed (45 lbs. in a 6 gal. bucket): $20.50 + $21.50 shipping= $42.00

Emergency Essentials (45 lbs. in 6 gal. bucket): $36.95 + $12.00 shipping = $48.95
Honeyville (50 lbs. without bucket): $46.99 + $4.49 shipping = $51.48

BUT if you were to purchase the wheat in bulk and use your own bucket, the price would look like this:

LDS Cannery (50 lbs. without bucket): $11.60
Emergency Essentials (bucket and lid): $7.00
Total price: $18.60

The other items I buy in bulk and plan to use in my future buckets are oats, rice, sugar, flour, and beans. I'm also planning on getting a few 5-gallon buckets without lids ($5.50 each) and buying gamma lids ($7.50 each) for items I'm planning on getting into frequently. These lids make for easier access while still keeping air tight.

So, here are the items we're ordering this month and the price breakdown (there are no shipping charges):

Freeze Dried Strawberries - $13.00
5-gallon bucket with lid - $7.00
5-gallon bucket without lid - $5.50
Gamma Seal lid - $7.50

If you've already let me know about your strawberries, you're taken care of. Just let me know if you would like to order buckets/lids in addition to your strawberries. I need to know by Wednesday, June 23, as I am placing the order Thursday, June 24.

Water Barrels Have Arrived!

If you took part in the December group order and bought water barrels, they have arrived!

Lucky for us the boy scouts will be delivering them to us (as service!) this Tuesday night (1/26) from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Please have your $25.00 cash for each barrel you've purchased ready.

A HUGE thank-you goes out to Brother Dale S. for hooking us up with the great price, transporting these barrels from Utah, AND delivering them to us. This is awesome!

December Group Order - Water Barrels

The next group order is going to be 55-gallon water storage containers. These are reconditioned containers that are food grade and have been previously used for juice/soda. They have been sanitized.

I've never used reconditioned containers before but the price difference between a new container and a used one makes me willing to give it a try! A new 55-gallon container would cost approximately $65.00 and we're able to get these for $25.00.

Please let me know if you're interested in ordering any containers and how many you would like. Feel free to let others know about this deal as well!

November Group Order- Powdered Cheese Blend

Our group order for this month is dried powdered cheese sauce! Yum, I know. Although this is not something at the top of my delish list, it would be handy to have around if no other cheese was available.

This sauce can be used just like any cheese sauce: toppings, pastas (like mac n cheese), spreads, soups, dipping sauce, casseroles, etc.

I love to buy cheese when it's on sale and then freeze it for future use. Frozen cheese is great for short-term storage, but powdered cheese is nice to have as a long-term option that doesn't have to be refrigerated.

Go HERE for more information on the group order product for this month. Please let me know if you're interested in ordering. The more the merrier (and the cheaper)!
