Toilet Paper Deal! 24-pack for $2.99, TODAY only.

There are certain things in life I couldn't go without...toilet paper is one of those things. That being said, it's something I certainly want in my year supply.

I was able to order cases of 24 rolls for $2.99 each...5 cases of 24-rolls for $14.95 (+ tax) with free shipping. That's right, I don't even have to go to the store! Woo-hoo!!

This deal is good TODAY ONLY (5/22)! Go HERE for the details.

I love stocking up on toilet paper. It doesn't expire and eventually I know we'll use it. I HATE spending lots of money on toilet paper. It's literally like flushing money down the toilet. Silly to be excited about, but yeah for inexpensive toilet paper!

4" Tomato Plants - $1.00 each

(photo via Moana Nursery email)

I received an email from Moana Nursery that their 4" tomato plants will be on sale for $1.00 each May 11 - May 25. I paid almost $3.00 for mine! See the flyer HERE for prices and gardening information for our local area.

Garden Time

Typically I wait until Memorial Day weekend to plant my garden. This year I’ve been a bit antsy. The weather has been nice and I jumped the gun and planted my tomato plants.

Was I worried when we woke up to a dusting of snow this morning? Did I fear I’d find shriveled-up, completely-dead plants? Nope! Since I planted early, I used walls 'o water to protect my little babies. The plastic circles are placed around the plants and then filled with water. The water insulates the plant inside and keeps it cozy and warm. Hooray! The frost didn’t kill my future salsa! A man I talked to at Home Depot told me he uses old plant containers to surround his plants and puts plastic over them at night. I've also heard of using old soda bottles. This year I’m trying something else new in my garden. I’m trying the square foot garden method. The two years before that I’ve grown a garden I’ve followed the directions on the seed packets and just planted in rows. It’s worked fine but I don’t have a ton of gardening space and I think I’ll be able to grow a lot more produce this way. The basic idea is to plant in square feet instead of rows. Last year I was able to plant four to five rows in each planter. In just this one planter I have 20 squares! Each square can handle a certain number of seeds depending on the type/size of plant. For example, 16 carrots can be planted in one square. This is the chart from My Square Foot Garden that I’m using to determine my spacing. There are lots of methods and ways to garden and LOTS of resources available at the library as well as online. I love the gardening information found on the Provident Living website. Here we can learn about:
Let's get gardening!

The Home Depot Garden Club - B1G1 FREE Rose Coupon

I just received ANOTHER awesome coupon from Home Depot, B1G1 FREE rose plant! Last month it was B1G1 FREE tree. (We'll be planting our two new beauties today!) I've also received coupons for fertilizer and gas propane exchange.

Gardening is a wonderful way to provide food for our family, propane is good to have on hand for the BBQ (an alternate source of cooking), and roses are just plain beautiful!

If you're interested in signing up for the Home Depot Garden Club, you can do it HERE...it's FREE. I can't wait to see what the next coupons will be!

Dear Scolari's,

Just thought I'd let you know that the La Victoria enchilada sauce at Wal-Mart is $1.88. This is their regular price, no sale needed, no price matching needed, no doubling coupons needed.

Did I mention they were more than happy to take my $4.00/2 manufacturer coupon? Sorry you lost my business on this. Just thought I'd let you know.

Sincerely,
Natalie

Grocery Shopping...$8.91 spent!

Here's a picture from my shopping trip today. (Handsome boy pictured not included in today's purchases. He's priceless.)

Transaction #1
4 boxes of cereal - $0.79 each (plus $3 back)
2 packs of hamburger buns - $0.50 each (on clearance)
-$4.00 Catalina from last week's Frosted Flakes
=$0.16! and I got a $3.00 Catalina coupon

Transaction #2
3 loaves of bread - $0.75 each (on clearance)
5 ears of corn - $0.25 each
2 boxed potatoes - FREE (clearanced for $0.50 each and had a $1.00/2 coupon)
2 packs of bacon - $1.49 each
-$3.00 Catalina coupon from transaction above
=$3.48!

1 Watermelon - $2.99
2 packs Mission tortillas - $0.24 each (use both in-ad and manufacture's coupon)
(In-ad coupon for tortillas makes them $0.99 each. As you walk in the door by the produce there is a Mission tortilla chip display with a tearpad of coupons for $1.50/2 Mission products (also found at Save Mart). Makes each pack of tortillas $0.24 each and the whole wheat variety is included. Limit 2.)
=$3.47!

And I just should have stopped there because I had a not-so-pleasant experiance at Scolari's.

Scolari's
1 J&J Baby Shampoo - $0.99
2 Ortega taco shells - $0.29 each
=$1.80!
I should have also gotten 6 FREE enchilada sauces but the clerk and I didn't see eye-to-eye. She claimed that because the product was $1.99 she could not accept a coupon for $2.00 off. Even after I explained that the store would be reimbursed the full $2.00 from the manufacturer, she refused to take the coupon. So I put on a smile and politely said, "I just won't get these then." Entire thing canceled and rerung as the people behind me waited not so patiently and my 3-year-old shrieked at the top of his lungs. I almost joined him but I restrained. Guess I'll be price-matching at Wal-Mart!

GRAND TOTAL: $8.91
